Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon probably contains the most fantastic rock formations of any of the Utah national parks. These formations are sculpted pillars of rocks, called hoodoos, and take many intricate shapes. They were carved by ancient rivers over many millions of years. Spectacular views can be had with little effort by hiking along the rims, but to really experience the hoodoos up close, we hiked down a couple of trails nearly 1000 feet below the rim. We were struck by the contrast between the forests and the elaborately carved rock pillars. Judging by the foreign languages we overheard, there were as many European and Asian visitors as Americans. Obviously, Bryce Canyons's beauty has universal appeal!
