These are usually seen as dried fruit (available from Chinese herb suppliers).
Sometimes they can be found fresh in the UK and I saved the seeds from some I bought.
Only a few germinated and here is the result, showing progress over the early months.
Sadly I read that commercial production uses grafting to propogate them as it can take up to seven years
before a plant grown from seed will produce any fruit. Since the trees can grow much bigger than our garden could cope with, that may not be a problem....!
