The QWERTY key layout (which I realize this is one of) was created to make typing as slow as possible to prevent the keys from jamming. My point (apparently lost) was that this old typewriter is a classic example of why the QWERTY was created, in other words... never mind.

One can easily see why the QWERTY keyboard was invented. This baby was not designed for speed.
