"The David"

Uffizi Museum, Florence, Italy.

Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (6 March 1475 – 18 February 1564.

This was an exercise in incredible patience, waiting for just a few heads only that still unfortunately merged with the feet of this magnificent sculpture. I imagine that when Michelangelo created it, people were much shorter. As most people are aware Michelangelo created it to be viewed from the feet upwards. Consequently the legs are much longer than the torso and the right hand is in a larger scale as it is closer to the viewer's eye.
