Taughonnack Falls in Winter '09

The trail leading to the base of the falls was closed due to dangerous ice flows. The ice flows at the bottom were remarkable, really showing the power of ice. Enormous blocks of ice had been pushed on shore up to 100' from the stream. Picnic tables had been smashed and pushed. It was nothing like that last year. We had had a warm-up for just a few days which caused the ice flows. You can see at the bottom of the falls how a watery channel has begun. I'm not sure if the ice came from above the falls and went down the falls or not. Unfortunately, the light was wrong to photograph the ice flows.
