Pasko ng Pagkabuhay / Easter Sunday 2008

Early in the morning the people congregate at their parish church to celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection. A re-enactment of the Salubong
(literally: "the act of meeting someone upon arriving") are held, wherein the risen Christ meets Mama Mary and the disciples for the first time
since His death. A symbolic flame descending from the heavens (great special effects done nowadays that never fails to awe the peeps!)
is ritually done to celebrate this important return.

The celebration of the Holy Mass follows, wherein the celebrant/s and congregation renew their catholic vows together as a symbol
of personal rebirth. New converts are then publicly baptised into the faith. A great day indeed to recollect past sins and start anew!

To get you more into a celebratory mood, listen to the Hallelujah Chorus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnHksDFHTQI&feature=related
from George Frederic Handel's oratorio "The Messiah" as perfomed by the Ambrosian Singers. You may sing along with the choir by following
the moving musical score - in four choral voices! (video from "You Tube" courtesy of margotlorena)

It will do for know, but to keep in tune with the "Philippine Snapshots" gallery I'd prefer a performance from a local choir but haven't
gotten round to search and recommend one yet. Anyways, have a Happy Easter, everyone! :-)
