When I shot it the first time it was just barely still 'in' the water. Now the water has receded another half mile and the tree is high and very dry. A sad case of a dying sea. The birds still come each spring. We saw an entire field of large white geese and many other species. They claim that over 400 of the 600 species that inhabit North America come here each winter. The 'birders' still do also!

Wonderful touching story of nature.Beautiful subtle hues in the river plus a delicate backdrop that conveys sweltering heat despite the abundant aquatic element.The birds add a most poignant touch to the theme.I'm not going to bicker about the horizon.It is a unique moment.Vote :-)

this is a beautiful photo but the horizon is tilted. the photo would be much better if you would rotate it so that the horizon is straight. superb photo!
