Upon entering the gates for the 2003 music
festival Street Scene, in San Diego's Gaslamp area,
I noticed this young boy drawing chalk images
on the pavement while his parents were deciding
which area of the event to start at.

The boy was just in his own world
and the parents kind of looked at me askance
when I asked for permission to photograph
their son but they happily obliged.
