Your wonderful photo gallery brought tears to my eyes this morning .I was born and raised in blaenau 70 years ago , and like many others I dare say wanted to leave Blaenau for greener pastures.Found many a green pasture in my travels but none to compare to the rugged majestic beauty of the area I left so many years ago.I will return to the land of my birth soon!!!!!!

David Diamond - Had a wonderful upbringing in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Often walked in the mountains and surrounding countryside. Been away 40 years now ,but do travel back annually to visit family. Travelled extensively (even visited Iona in New Zealand earlier this year) but your fantastic photos bring back so many memories of a wonderful countryside that is still "home" to me.

Hi Rory, it's just great to see these pictures. I'm in my mid fifties, originally from London but live in Australia now. My auntie, uncle and cousins all lived in Blaenau, and all of my childhood holidays were there, school holidays and annual holidays with mum and dad and brother. Blaenau has always had a place in my heart, and your pics bring it all back. I took a load of pics too, when I was in my teens in the late sixties and seventies, but my mum threw them all out! I had a fantastic one night time one taken on a really long exposure from high above Blaenau, looking down on the high street, covered in snow and all lit up for christmas. Ah well, it's gone forever now. Anyway, thanks for the pics, hope you take and post many more.

Max, It was "Secret Wales"....you need glasses in your old age ;-)I might have had that coat since lakeside (1977) but at least it looked better than your leather jacket which you have worn since Primary....Heard you have bought a decent car at last, Audi. I just got back from a week in North Wales staying in Llan Ffestiniog, and this gallery reminds me of what I saw and even more of how much I missed.
