Kaitlin and KitKat vying for Deni's attention. KitKat, an abused homeless kitten in Lewes DE, adopted Deni one summer in the early '90s and came home with her, not me. He had been kicked away by fishermen as they cleaned their fish, and never trusted me, even though I fed him daily for many years. When I would try to stroke him while eating (the only time I could get close to him), he would shudder and run away. But he liked Deni, so I liked him. KitKat disappeared in late 2007, I think going off into the woods to die.
