To end my tale (because I didn't think to photograph the down pour that followed eclipse totality), I have added this older image of a similar scene at the same place. The lighting is brighter in this photo than it was on 2017 Eclipse Day. But thanks to Mother Nature, this was what we saw instead of the moon moving away from the sun.
By 1:30PM, there was severe flash flooding requiring an emergency water rescue less than a mile from our house.
