June of 2009, Powell Gardens (King City, Missouri) debuted its "Heartland Harvest Garden". The new 12 acre garden is filled with a wide range of delights to the senses - including fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Considered to be the Nation's "largest edible landscape", the Heartland Harvest Garden is a first of its kind. One month following the Harvest Garden's grand opening, a festival in honor of Sweet Corn delighted visitors. This was the first in a Summer Food Series.
