Taken in the same location as “Snow Drift and Spire” (in this gallery), the attraction of this image was the balance of three disparate features which came into play – the background spire, the tree, and the shadow on the snow. I think the photograph might have been more powerful with a clear sky (thus simplifying the composition), but that wasn’t in the cards this day.
