Cargo Freighter going up river

Montz, Louisiana

A cargo freighter going up the Mississippi River at Sunset. The river is about 200' deep and a mile wide at New Orleans, most of the ships can travel as far up river as Baton Rouge. When I was in my teens you would have to wait for hours for a ship to pass so that we could ride the waves back to shore. Today the wait is 15 minutes at the most for one to pass and I stay on dry land now. You can see more River Traffic pictures at http://www.pbase.com/bre/river_traffic .

That river must be deep because that is a big ship. Nice capture.

Wonderful image! I love the colors of the sky in contrast with the ship!

Not sure I could resist riding the waves :)
Don't know how you get anything done with sights like this.

A river that was meant to be more than good to look at, but useful too. Grand shot, Breland.
