This is probably Bamberg's most famous attraction: a town hall built on a bridge.
According to the legend, the Bishop of Bamberg refused to give up his land for the purpose of building a town hall.
In response, the townfolks created an artificial island in the middle of the Regnitz River and built their town hall - or Rathaus. And a beautiful Rococo structure it is, detailed with Baroque frescoes all along the façade.
