After 45 minutes hiking in the dark, I arrived at this bluff overlooking the Meramec river just before dawn. The buff was scattered with Birdsfoot Violets and the wind was blowing up the bluff with the vultures riding these air currents back and forth. I even considered putting away the camera and taking it all in rather than missing the moment trying to capture it. I took many exposures at iso400 trying to get at least one were the violets were not two blurred from the wind and of course the vultures moved too quick even to get a blur. In the end I only got one of the violets sharp. Although I generally don't got into adding things to my images, in this case I wanted to recreate the moment, so I copied the sharp violet and patched it over the blurred one. I also added two of the vultures using images I took later when the light was stronger, but when the reddish tones disappeared. Purist might not light this, but it captured that moment. Hope you enjoy.
