Friday Afternoon on the Little Pigeon

Ed asked, "So what kind of rod and reel are you buying, Buz?"

LOL. I fished a lot in Louisiana as a youngster and as a young man. All salt water and success with fish was a given. Fly fishing is another story. When I moved up here I bought the books, the instructional videos, the rod, the vest, reel... all the right gear, talked with the guys in the pro shops, took the lessons, practiced casting on the lawn, caught a few blue gills in a near by pond and thought I was ready for the big league. Went with some friends up a stream and caught a load of trees, rocks and anything within 70 feet that would steal a fly except a fish.
So I put it all away but it does provide my wife with a few laughs every now and then.

That is a great story, Buz. I can relate both to my hobbies that did not pan out and my wife's reaction to them.
This is an amazing photograph!
The way you caught this throw with a perfect arc of the line is astounding

A nice shot and humorous story to go with it. Some of the previous comments gave me a good laugh too.

Great candid and action shot. You have to be really dedicated to fish in the winter.

Nice form Buz.

Nice shot, Buz. I know what you mean about fly fishing. My dad tried to teach me how, and I spent most of the
day pulling flies out of my backside.

I just know I would take an eye out if I tried...besides it means you have to stay in the one place for more then 3 minutes..too hard !!
Excellent capture, Buz.

Superb shot and the commentary just about sums up my ability with a golf club.

You've captured the 'dance of Mother Nature' in the elements. Gorgeous! Nice story, too. (Sorry! we all have a story like that about something, though.) :)
Johnny JAG28-Jan-2006 17:00
Probably the best catch of the day, pun intended. The line looks like neon.

A fine funny shot. Looks more like a trainer for animals. You are sure there are no tigers and lions outside the picture.

Nice action shot! But...it makes me shiver thinking about standing in that cold water!

If I want to catch trout, I take an ultralight, some #12 hooks, and a couple of maggots.a If I want to go fishing, I take the fly rod. Every now and then I even get lucky.

Great photo BTW.
