14th - "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"

Cheltenham, Glos.

Howard Hawks' 1953 comedy classic comedy starring Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell (blimey, what a team!!) and Charles Coburn: "two singers, best friends Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw travel to Paris pursued by a private detective hired by Lorelei's fiancé's disapproving father to keep an eye on her, a rich, enamoured old man and many other doting admirers" (IMDB)

Well, this gentleman doesn't prefer blondes, not blonde beer anyway! Try as I might (and I *have* tried very hard) I just don't get the taste of blonde beer...give me a good old-fashioned dark ale or even an IPA and I'm happy (usually very happy) but the blonde stuff I think I'll use for sink cleaner (it certainly tastes like it to me...)

See what other Pbasers are doing in the back row this month here

Edit: this will have to do for my PAD entry today as well - inspiration seems to have taken a holiday this evening...

Nice use of those speed lights! I'm not a beer drinker and have never heard of blonde beer before. Hmph, learn something new everyday.

You might not like the way blond tastes, but you sure made it look good Doug. I'm with you with the blonds, I prefer mine darker. Hoppy makes me happy so it's IPA for me. :)
J. Scott Coile14-Jun-2011 22:07
This time of year for sure. Looks like a real blonde ;-)
Jola Dziubinska14-Jun-2011 22:02

I was surprised to see the lids still intact!! I expect you have finished them by now???
Brian Samuel14-Jun-2011 21:24
Hm, drink enough and you'll either get used to them or stop caring. I've just popped a Speckled Hen - Strong Fine Ale, or so they say.

The beers not bad too !
globalgadabout14-Jun-2011 21:12
heavyweight pic of this lightweight pair...totally agree...back to Guinness again...a while back a pint could be ordered by asking for either `a parish priest`, or suggesting the choice of `a blonde in a black dress`...(don`t know if all gentlemen, or gentlewomen, would approve)...V

One of my favourite beers! Started drinking it a few years ago at a conference in Belgium and have never looked back. Great photo.

You've found an excellent use for it, and I'm smug as I just got 3 for 2 Abbots ales.
Won't be shooting those babies
