26th - "Stay"

Cheltenham, Glos

(From Glasgow's finest The Blue Nile, and their 1984 debut album A Walk Across the Rooftops)

I think this is just one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever had the pleasure to hear - Paul Buchanan's beautiful voice, the tight rhythm section and the sublime keyboards...I get shivers up and down my spine even now, 25 years after I first heard it. If there was ever a 'Desert Island Disc' for music, this would my number one, no argument!

Once again this was a team effort - I was listening to album, at the same time contemplating an excellent day yesterday and anguishing that I couldn't get a tune to match the triangle theme all the while staring forlornly at the tripod when Finn said something along the lines of 'well, when you use a tripod the camera stays still, it doesn't move...'. Bingo! I'd never thought of it like that, but the lad's right! Huzzah! I cried as I grabbed the old bedsheet and arranged my studio, much to the amusement of Naomi.

Excuse the slight bluey tinge to the light here - I don't know what's causing that, nor the slight pixelation either...anybody got any ideas? Of course, if I desaturate the pic, then the blue tinge goes, but not the pixelation....

Sometimes the inspiration is right in front of us...we just don't see it. Great shot, nicely captured triangles and a great team effort.

Excellent idea, well executed. Very effective shot.

An excellent idea. Why haven't I thought of that?
Like the way you played with the shadows.

Great idea and studio work!

A great conversion with gorgeous light and shadow. Love the triangles. I used my tripod quite a lot today and it never occurred to me that there were triangles there. :)

Wow! You have to tell me how you taught it to do that! mine is always roaming all over the place, sometimes I can't keep up ... and I remove it from my wife's car.

The blue tinge can easily be corrected with a tweek of the colours.
The "pixellation" looks more like the picture has been over compressed as a jpeg and the number of colurs has been reduced too far acusing steps rather than smooth bending between the colours

Laughing at Stephanie's comment! Clever and creative!

Nice! I love that!!! Don't use one very often but handy to have around when you do. Very cool!

What a fool am I. The triangle standing next to me most of the time, and I have no eyes to see. Great capture. Excellent light and shadowplay. Also love the title and choice of music. v

You haven't been at the Highland Park have you, that's been known to cause pixelation!
Bernard Davis26-Dec-2009 19:53
NIce use for the tripod. Can't help you with the questions, I'm on a wi-fi dongle here and it automatically pixelates images, to save on bandwidth

LOL@Steph! You've even got a mini triangle on the end of the centre column thingy :o)
Do you mean pixellation or posterisation - it looks a bit posterised to me - did you fettle the contrast - and if so, did you do it in 8-bit mode? That's normally where it comes from. Other than that, if it's underexposed it posterises quite easily - hence the 'expose to the right' rule :o)
Dunno 'bout the bloo, unless it's caught a cast from the wall or somefink...?

Nice legs there Doug!
Can you adjust the colors on your computer to delete the blue tinge? Maybe a little more yellow or possibly red?
I've never heard this song before, but I like it!
