Flag detail at the Washington Monument

Taken on 9/11/06, the flag flys at half mast. As with the rest of this gallery I shot it with the little Casio point and shoot. And on this one, given the crisp detail and the 1 second exposure,I obviously used the ultralight tripod.

This is a big favorite of mine. The framing centers the flag at one of the monument corners hiding the edge line. The result is the light variations on the wall surfaces and very crisp details in the brick and flag poll. All this contrasts perfectly against the recognizable abstract of the waving flag.
