Gaitore is about 15 kilometers from the city of Jaipur and is the cremation site of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Each Maharaja has a chhatri (cenotaph) built in his honor. The only Maharaja who was not cremated here and does not have a cenotaph here is Maharaja Sawai Ishwari Singh. He was cremated outside of the Jai Niwas Gardens behind the Chandra Mahal in the City Palace complex.
