Welcome to my new gallery with old family photos, which I've scanned and included in my family history book, still in progress. Family memories are the most perishable of inheritances and therefore I have been collecting pictures and data for a long time. It's an absorbing and emotional undertaking, learning about your ancestors.
At my advancing age, time and perseverance is crucial now, while my recollection is still functioning.
Being at the other side of the globe, away from my land of ancestry, made it more difficult to keep on track. I'm fortunate that some distant family members were able and willing to help me with my endeavour, for which I'm very grateful.

Bernard, your site is really a seldom beautifull document of your familiy history and the Lombok neighbourhood of 60 to 80 years ago. I have discovered your site when I was looking for information of my mothers primary school, the St. Jansschool in the Jansstraat, Arnhem. This because my mother was telling me stories of her own youth. Stories from a period so differend as today. When she and I saw the pictures and read, in addition to your family story, also your stories about the Lombok neighbourhood we both became excited. Your neighbourhood stories are so simular to the stories my mother have told me! She used your photos to tell me more, it was familair because she, her two brothers and sister did also grow up in Lombok. My mothers parental home, were I was born too in 1959, was on the Utrechtseweg between the Zwarteweg and the Oranjestraat. My mother was one of the 4 childeren, two boys, the oldest and the youngest child, and between them two girls. My mother is the youngest girl, born in 1935. I wrote also a comment at "The little Lombokkers at kindergarten in 1936" photo because two of the kids on that photo are my uncle and aunt.

Pressed between the covers, these documentary pages, filled to the brim with rare pictures and comprehensive texts would/will indeed make a great family history book of the 20th century. Lucky man that you were able to access so many sources around you, both here, and there. It must have been quite a job, no doubt absorbing, though sometimes difficult at times, I know. And not yet planning to return over there?

Wow I have not found anything more interesting in my life. I seriously wonder if we might be related somehow. I am the Grandson of a Morris Frank Bosmans whose family came from Belgium. he was born Frank Morris Bosmans but when coming to america his uncle misunderstood how to fill out the form in Ellis Isle so his name was changed. at least that is how the stroy goes. I know little of my family history but I found this to be interesting. who knows we might be related.
