Inside the St. John's Episcopal Church Patrick Henry delivered his famous speech on March 23, 1775 calling for American independence. The church was being used as a meeting place for delegates for the second Virginia revolutionary convention.
The church, built in 1741 and still an active parish, is one of the few on the National Register of Historic Places.
