While looking for historic buildings in Bandera, I found the doors open to Saint Stanislaus. Inside were many volunteers restoring the 128 year-old church. Workmen from San Antonio were scrapping the ceiling of old putty that supported a false ceiling. Once removed, they will repaint it. Others were busy removing the old wooden floor.
The gentleman I talked with showed me around and explained that his great grandfather was one of the original pioneers who founded the church.
Saint Stanislaus was built of locally quarried tufa limestone and is the second oldest Polish church in Texas.
