Beer Stein

17 of 365

They call this a challenge and it certainly was!
One of my lights blew and so I only have one light source.
One of my cats (I suspect Callie Ann) laid on my drop cloth and left strands of white fur behind.
I improvised with black cardstock (though didn't notice the slanted "horizon").
I do not have a tripod for this camera and improvised with a shoebox and some 1/2" foam
(my other tripod is not strong enough).
I learned how to use TWO new-to-me features on my new camera today!
Live View and Self-Timer!
All in all, I consider the shot a great success.

A beautiful beer stein Brenda and a very fine image of it. Love the light and tones and the detail is excellent. You went through a lot to get this image, but it was worth it! V

after all that effort you created a great photo of a beer stein

Lighting is perfect even with one light broken, the details come out with the shadows.

Live View is one feature I envy in the new DSLRs, but it is not enough to get me to buy another camera. I have a sturdy BOGEN/Manfrotto tripod, a gift in the mid 90s along with a big pair of binoculars. I use it for everything, even small telescopes. If you buy a good tripod it will last forever.

I think it turned out wonderfully. I like your idea of a tripod. If it works, why not? Great light, detail and tones.
