Despite the appearance, these shots are in color. It was a grey, rainy day, my first whale watch in the rain. There was a fair amount of action, thanks to Springboard who put on a good show of almost every behavior. It was a long trip, 7 hours, and it was cold and raw. I'm not likely to go in the rain again, but it was a good experience.

If you are asking why they don't look like they are in color, it's because the day was grey and rainy, there wasn't any color to see. The blue water is only a reflection of the sky, so grey sky, grey water.
