Mt Etna was called, by the native Sicilians, "Mungibeddu", or Mongibello in Italian, which is the combination of two words-the Italian Monte for mountain and the Arabic Gebel, also meaning mountain. So, Mongibello, or Mungibeddu in Sicilian dialect, literally means "mountain-mountain". Peter Renardo(Rinaldi)
