Act of Union Beech Trees

North Berwick

These trees were planted on the slopes of Berwick Law in 1707 to celebrate the signing of the Act of Union that brought Scotland and England together to form Great Britain.
It is sad to see that some have died and fallen in recent years.
Hopefully, more will be planted and live another 300 years.

Beautiful image, Bill. Since they symbolise the Treaty of Union, however, I for one would not be too sad to see them fall.

Fantastic colours!! But not only the colours, I think the photo is wonderfully composed. I like the way the trees are so tall and straight though the are on such a inclined slope...
Great work.

To some, their falling would be cause for celebtration (I'm neutral on the subject) but I admit they are very beautiful and your shot does them great justice.
