It has been a misty day so, after a short walk in the woods, I spent some time fiddling with the X-files.
No, not Mulder and Scully from the 1990s TV series (yes, it really was that long ago), but the RAW files from my Fuji X-T1 and X-Pro1 cameras.
I really enjoy using these cameras but have been a bit disappointed with their sharpness displayed in fine details - like trees in landscapes.
The problem, according to the Gods that live amongst the internet forums, is that Photoshop just doesn't handle these X-files very well.
Since I am a man, and so can only deal with one problem at a time, I will leave the grammaticians to decide if the plural is actually fora instead of forums.
Anyway, the same Gods recommend using RAW converters other than Photoshop, which all adds to the expense and takes away from the fun.
Many tests performed today, helped by some wonderful Aspall's Premier Cru cyder, and I think I have finally found a way to handle the X-files in Photoshop.
Hard to see in the squashed jpgs I upload to PBase but the full sized pictures do look good, and I am pretty happy with the results.
