From Indio we saw the sky getting redder and more intense around 3:30, so we packed our cameras and hurried up to Joshua Tree. It took some time but when it came the sunset was fiery. Thankfully only the sky was on fire.
We light-painted the tree with a handheld spot/flood to extract detail from the silhouetted dark side.
