The magnificent ruins of Angkor Wat is the reason tourism exploded in Cambodia in the early 2000's. When we visited in the mid 90's Siep Reap the city near Angkor was an undeveloped back water of a town. Our hotel was the only tourist hotel at that time and we all got sick eating there. But today all the posh 4-5 resorts have checked in and Siem Reap is booming with clubs, cafes, and restaurants of every type and price range.
I highly recommend the exotic atmosphere of the Chanrey Tree for Khmer style food, similar to high end Thai food. It was so good we ate there two nights in a row.
