We arrived at Gilman's Point around 5 o'clock and were really lucky that it wasn't windy. The temp. was only around - 20 deg. C! Reaching Gilman's was a killer and we never seemed to get there in the darkness. We had a short break and tried to light our handwarmers with a cigarette lighter only to find that there was to little available oxygen for the damn thing to work (a pretty useless present at this altitude)! Most of our drinking water had frozen by this stage...
