According to all Japanese sources, there is no blotches in "Yama-no-Akebono". The Satsuki Daikan and Satsuki Zaikan both indicate (along with other Japanese sources) a lot of variations and selfs on this plant but none has any blotches. It could be a different Satsuki hybrid.
