When I sat down a ten year old boy was assertively asking for money, or for his picture to be taken, after which he would expect money. It wasn't until this, my last day in the country that I thought of a suitable response. I told the boy that I would be happy to take a photo if he would pay me just 50 birr, which produced a bewildered look as he fell silent and slinked away.
