Fort Hamilton’s salute to ships to kick off Fleet Week 2011

Fleet Week will kick off May 25 with the Salute to Ships on the Fort Hamilton Bluff beginning at 9:55 a.m. Fort Hamilton will render a 11-gun salute to the USS Iwo Jima at 10:46, then the USS Iwo Jima will return salute. Other ships in the parade include the USS New York, which was partially built with steel recovered from the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001, USS John Hall, USS Kauffman, USS Carr, U. S. Coast Guard Cutters Katherine Walker, Tampa
