Afternoon sun striking Point Prim lighthouse on PEI

The 60 foot round brick lighthouse is located on Route 209 a few minutes from the Wood Islands ferry and is just off the Trans Canada Highway in Point Prim. The lighthouse is the Island's oldest and was designed and built in 1845 by Isaac Smith, the same architect who designed Province House in Charlottetown. The stairs leading to the top of the lighthouse are steep and narrow but is well worth the effort.

Hi,

My name is Julia Anne Gillis. I grew up 1 mile away from this lighthouse. I remember as a child going to bed at night, the sound of the fog horn as I went to sleep. I live in New Brunswick now, and I find myself missing the sound. Everytime I go home, I have to go to the lighthouse, and sit staring at the water. Your picture is beautiful. Thanks for loving my lighthouse!

Mark:

GREAT shot! The red top of the lighthouse contrasts nicely with the blue sky. I've taken quite a few lighthouse pics down here in the States. (Maryland.)

Nice job.
