The moon photo to the left was shot from a beach lounger in in Egypt after checking into the hotel and going down to the water for a few minutes as the sun set. It's the same camera used for the attempts below at catching the lunar eclipse Dec. 11, 2011 from a warm room, as I signed up too late for the shooting group under the Golden Gate Bridge. Too hard to do right though, since a digital piano and other electronics are in front of the window, but I leaned over them to see if I could get a small photo-log of the lunar eclipse over the San Francisco Bay area and the expected mildly orange-red moon on the dark side as we overshadowed it. These were taken using the Canon SX10 IS when I couldn't locate the neglected, heavier Rebel XT and good zoom lens. Might try again in 2014 if I'm still on this side of the moon.
