Torre del Gallo (early 14th c.). Originally built as a watchtower attached to the southern facade of the cathedral to communicate with the city fortress (Castle of the Bishops) located uphill.
Many scars can be seen around the windows produced by bullets in the Civil War in 1936, when the cathedral, hosting over 800 people, was besieged by the rebels.
For three months Sigüenza suffered continuous attacks including air raids by the Luftwaffe, resulting in the killing of over 500 people (of a population of 4000), and the destruction and damage of many historical monuments like the cathedral and the castle.
