March 3

"Unconditional Surrender"

This is a replacement of the original statue by Seward Johnson.
Tourists seem to like it, as do most locals, though a vocal minority denounces it as "Kitsch" etc.
It's popularly known as the "Kiss" Statue.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Awesome POV, this kiss is much more hectic against the sky. Otherwise it seems I belong to the majority:) Do like it Walter!!! V

Opportune image with pluses of tree silhouette and a delightful sky; nice shot!
Recognize the style and situation as with "Forever Marilyn" of Chicago; now Palm Springs...

What was wrong with the first?

This statue so depicts what the end of WW2 and the home coming meant to so many people.
Remember in those days there were no Cell Phones or Internet, you didn't know your Love one was safe until you held them in your arms.

So does this mean it in San Diego?
Was sad last October when there was no Kiss statue.
