Coats of arms and inscription above the church door identify Hereditary Marchall Johann Riedesel and Margarete, Diede zu Fürstenstein, and Volprecht Riedesel and Elisabeth von Hardenberg as the builders.
Such inscriptions are often found on buildings in the area and as they are usually carved into stone, they remain readable for centuries.
