Mystery Bird

First time I was able to get a photo of this shy bird that likes to be in the dark shadows.
Still a mystery to me what it is. It can make itself look really big and fat, but in reality it isn't.

1/125s f/5.6 at 400.0mm iso5000 full exif

I believe the image is of a Great Argus pheasant, the largest of all pheasant species. You may wish to search online for more information. Nice photo!

Beautiful depth of color. Some sort of peafowl I would guess.

Don't know either, but like the others, I guess between the turkey and/or peacock family! You sure got a superb shot of it.

Not sure what type this is Walter, but you've landed a great shot to help I.D. him (her?)
lou_rozensteins04-May-2012 03:38
Nice shot! Could it be some sort of bush turkey, like the one we have here. Ours is different colours though.

Gorgeous with the colors, details and textures. It looks big and fat here, but beautiful. I wonder if making itself look big and fat is protective or enhances its attraction to the opposite sex. Congratulations on getting the shot. Bravo! V
