The Tar Pits
This is a re-creation of the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles and part of an exhibit at the San Diego Zoo.
Among the prehistoric species associated with the La Brea Tar Pits are mammoths, dire wolves, short-faced bears, ground sloths, the saber-toothed cat, and one human skeleton ca. 11,000 years old.
Radiometric dating of preserved wood and bones has given an age of 38,000 years for the oldest known material from the La Brea seeps.

Although not dangerous at all, it does look a bit scary. Well done.

Normally I don't like such strong light (or flash), but it really works here, increasing the drama of the scene. Well done!

When you get over the smell the tarpits are a neat place to visit. Nice shot of what we used to call a saber-toothed tiger.
