Coit Tower

Built with a bequest by the late Lillian Coit and bearing the imprint of the Depression-era socialist realism art that graced many American public works of the 1930's, Coit Tower stands 210 feet high, atop Telegraph Hill, itself a 300-foot high rocky crag on the northeastern edge of the San Francisco peninsula. The homes surrounding the hill are architectural and artistic gems, making the hike from the Embarcadero BART station a pure joy, and a great workout.
