Ivan Bunin (1870-1953) got the Nobel Prize in literature in 1933 "for the strict artistry with which he has carried on the classical Russian traditions in prose writing". At the end of his life he wrote in his reminiscences: "How can I not be jealous of our forefather Noah. He lived through only one flood in his lifetime."
I have read his collection of erotic stories "Dark Alleys" only, which he published at the age of 76. Shame on me :-)
