Basilique Saint-Rémi*, REIMS, Champagne

Commenced in the first years of the eleventh century, the Basilica is the home of the shrine of Saint-Rémi who was Bishop of Reims from about 460 until 532. In 500, he converted and baptised Clovis, the first christian king of France. Clovis is an ancestor of Charlemagne and most subsequent royal families of Europe, including Quenn Elizabeth II. The basilica was complete by 1200.
