Not long after I left for college in September 1960, my father, who had been diabetic since his early thirties, had his first heart attack. When it became apparent that he could no longer continue working full-time, he and my mother decided to leave Chicago and move to the warmer and presumably more relaxed climate of Florida. They did not find life in Florida much to their liking, however, and after two years moved back north, this time to New York City. This photo was taken on a trip that my father and I took to Orlando, on which we stopped at Cape Canaveral and nearby Patrick Air Force Base.
