When the Central-bound tram is too far away, it's sometimes worthwhile to go back a couple of stops towards it. (This assumes that you have a weekly ticket so that it doesn't cost you anything, and that the westbound tram is due well before yours so that you have an adequate buffer to reach those stops before it arrives at them.) In this way you ensure that you can actually get on the thing. I don't mind having to stand occasionally. I do mind being left standing on a still-overcrowded platform as the doors of the overloaded tram close with the next tram a quarter of an hour away.
This day was such a day. This is one of the stations before the crowd really builds up on the tram that runs to Central, as you can probably guess from the bustling sense of motion. Between his headphones and his Kindle, my fellow future passenger has tuned out of the world. I on the other hand while away the time documenting it for my PAD.
