130106_174328_27482 Mid Flight, Afternoon Light (Sun 06 Jan 13)

Thirroul Beach, Illawarra, NSW

The weather has been fairly disgusting yet again. Uncomfortably hot but more to the point, humid. The humidity probably came from the easterly breezes which have kept the temperatures from being as bad as they might have been (and as bad as they have been in other parts of the country), but have nonetheless turned the coast into a sauna which is in some ways even more uncomfortable than heat as such. (Though I don't think I'd want to swap with Hay, an inland town which had a top temperature of 48.1 degrees yesterday.)

The humidity has probably also contributed to the foggy low cloud that can be seen over the Illawarra escarpment in the background of this shot. That almost looks like a cloudbank which might bring cooling, drenching rain after the last of the afternoon sun goes... but it almost certainly won't.

A fine shot, even though its back story is one of intense discomfort.

I like the bird flying high above the pines, it 'looks' cool. Very nicely captured.

This is a great shot. I'm longing for sunshine but I'll take your word for it that I wouldn't like that heat or humidity.
40 degrees in Budapest was more than hot enough!

It adds a dramatic sky to this fantastic action capture of the bird. The darkness really sets off its light color. v.

Hate the humidity too, but 48.1, poor Hay! The row of N.I. pines look great
in the foreground. Great shot Alan. v
