Photo depicting path of aircraft from the runway edge to final stopping point. The MIA Fire Commander brought in additional fire engines from surrounding stations to assist if needed and they were staged on the inner perimeter road east of Red Road. When the aircraft left the runway it was aimed directly at the fire engines standing by but fortunately stopped short of their location. Some firefighter uniforms and seats were soiled by the sight of a 727 coming at them in the dark. Photo copyright 1983 by Don Boyd.
