Noble Snipe

San Isidro, Napo

People have said that South American Snipe is the species occurring here, but when I saw three in december I thought they were Noble Snipes.
This time I saw three more and got one image and four recordings that clearly shows Noble Snipe and nothing else.
The birds are clearly big, bigger than a South American Snipe. It would be about the same difference as between Common Snipe and Great Snipe in Europe.
On the picture one can see a slightly drooping bill and lack of white trailing edge. Recordings can be found on www.xeno-canto.org.
